Now here me out, just a thought, why not let the man who has unsuccessfully designed self driving car software that turns off moment before a collision so that Tesla can claim the car was under control of the driver at the time of the accident and therefore not the software's fault, redesign the collision avoidance systems used by air traffic controller?
Musk reposted Duffy’s message, adding: “With the support of President @realDonaldTrump, the @DOGE team will aim to make rapid safety upgrades to the air traffic control system. Just a few days ago, the FAA’s primary aircraft safety notification system failed for several hours!”
Failed for several hours, after Trump's pick took control of the FAA? Or failed because the Muskrats interfered in the government computer systems, failed to give ole Musky an excuse to get in their and destroy a system that has worked very well for decades. Note that lack of air and ground incidents involving planes during the Biden and Obama administration and the sudden occurrence of incidents at least 3 times shortly after Trump and his menaces took control of the government?
Critics on social media blasted the news shared by Duffy, with conservative commentator Charlie Sykes writing that it was the “scariest thing I’ve read today. And that’s saying a lot.”
Whatever happens, I recommend not flying to or from the US for at least the next 4 years!

Yes, I think your advice is very sound. The US is a shithole country. I think there should be travel warnings issued by DFAT for this, and also for things like mass shootings, racist violence by MAGA and J6 style mobs, arbitrary detention and deportation, that sort of thing. Also don't buy American goods and services, especially not Tesla cars, starlink internet. If Trump's tariffs target Australian exports like they did in 2017, we shouldn't be shy about banning or restricting those imports.

I don't have a formal system of ranking tyranny and shitholery in general, but Trump's America currently seems like a worse choice, in terms of international relations, compared to China. I'm not saying China is good, far from it. It is a murderous tyrannical regime too. But it is already our largest trading partner, so we have no moral authority, we have already sold out. So if it's a choice between two tyrannies, China is looking pretty good right now to strengthen trade ties and build partnerships. We could also merge aid programs for our Pacific friends, have joint Australia and China aid programs instead of using aid as diplomatic ace of hearts in a card game with China.

Just a few ideas that have popped into my head.
I can feel it

The thing with China is, there are rules, and as a visitor as long as you obey those rules you will get in and out safely. I mean really you may not like the rules, don't mention Tienanmen Square for instance, but you know what they are. The problem with US is there are rules, but all the people in charge may decide to ignore them or change them at any moment, or the people responsible for enforcing the rules decide "fuck the rules, you're going down."

China is indeed a safer bet for visiting, if you can ignore the absolute ignoring of human rights and etc for the Uighurs and the occupation of Tibet and the forced...well etc, you will get in and out fine. Well barring accidents of course, that's not true for the US, you can do everything right, and still get shot by the police because fuck it you look guilty and your black! Or picked up by ICE because fuck it you look Hispanic etc.

Was thinking about the Gaza thing and why Netanyahu wasn't kicking up a big fuss about it, I mean it's not like they need a US base next door, there aren't any real threats from neighbors and letting the US troops in will cause huge problems in the region, and then it came to me, he wants the Palestinians gone, but doesn't want the opprobrium of ethnic cleansing on his or Israels head, so he's going to let idiot Trump do it and have the US take all that heat. Once it's done he will basically tell the US to fuck off, in nicer words of course, and immediately fill it with Israeli citizens and military and declare it forever part of Israel.

Smart man indeed, let Trump and the US go down as the evil empire in history and Israel reaps the benefits.

Dictator on day one to the far future I guess;
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump said Friday that he is firing members of the board of trustees for the Kennedy Center and naming himself chairman.
I mean he fucking golfs when he should be actually in the oval office sorting out stuff like Gaza, oh sorry he's done that right, just kill them all! When is get going to get the time to run one of the USA's premier cultural event centers?
“At my direction, we are going to make the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., GREAT AGAIN. I have decided to immediately terminate multiple individuals from the Board of Trustees, including the Chairman, who do not share our Vision for a Golden Age in Arts and Culture,” Trump wrote on his social media website.

“We will soon announce a new Board, with an amazing Chairman, DONALD J. TRUMP!”
This is bizarre, it's simply not something the President of the USA should be involved in, does he really think this is what Presidents do?

Ah yes, one of the DOGE team, with access to millions of citizens data and who knows what else, was in fact a member of a secret pedophile cabal, so racist, pedophiles, these are Musk's best of the best! Also a member of a group that practiced skimming numbers from ATM's and credit card fraud, and now he has unlimited access to millions of SS and contact identification details for member of the public, you afraid yet America?

What crazy bullshit happened in the world's biggest reality TV show last night?

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/202 ... dges-trump

JD Vance, a minor character it has to be said, confirms that maga don't believe in the concept of a balance of power, don't believe in their own constitution and are in fact a government by dictatorship. Really laying the ground work for a wild crescendo as the law confronts maga, what a subplot this is.

In other news, the star of the show says, 'you're sacked' to Palestinians who will have no right of return to Gaza after maga turn it into a giant golf course.

Sometimes i wonder if the writers on this show sit around sucking on crack pipes to come up with ideas for the next episode. It's a ratings winner though, gotta give 'em that.

And in other news we have the fourth plane disaster in the US in the first few weeks of Trump's Presidency after taking over and removing DEI hires from the FAA and just fucking the entire thing up, I mean it's almost as if the people running the FAA prior to the Trump Presidency actually knew what they were doing!
The collision comes after a handful of fatal plane crashes and aviation incidents have left travellers across the US worried
Yeah it isn't the handful of crashes that are the problem, it's that they all happened in the same few weeks, after the FAA was taken over by Trump and cohorts. If the handful of crashes were over 4 years, or even a year it would be just put down as rare accidents by most travellers, there are just to many coming to close together for people to feel comfortable.
