Now here me out, just a thought, why not let the man who has unsuccessfully designed self driving car software that turns off moment before a collision so that Tesla can claim the car was under control of the driver at the time of the accident and therefore not the software's fault, redesign the collision avoidance systems used by air traffic controller?
Musk reposted Duffy’s message, adding: “With the support of President @realDonaldTrump, the @DOGE team will aim to make rapid safety upgrades to the air traffic control system. Just a few days ago, the FAA’s primary aircraft safety notification system failed for several hours!”
Failed for several hours, after Trump's pick took control of the FAA? Or failed because the Muskrats interfered in the government computer systems, failed to give ole Musky an excuse to get in their and destroy a system that has worked very well for decades. Note that lack of air and ground incidents involving planes during the Biden and Obama administration and the sudden occurrence of incidents at least 3 times shortly after Trump and his menaces took control of the government?
Critics on social media blasted the news shared by Duffy, with conservative commentator Charlie Sykes writing that it was the “scariest thing I’ve read today. And that’s saying a lot.”
Whatever happens, I recommend not flying to or from the US for at least the next 4 years!
Yes, I think your advice is very sound. The US is a shithole country. I think there should be travel warnings issued by DFAT for this, and also for things like mass shootings, racist violence by MAGA and J6 style mobs, arbitrary detention and deportation, that sort of thing. Also don't buy American goods and services, especially not Tesla cars, starlink internet. If Trump's tariffs target Australian exports like they did in 2017, we shouldn't be shy about banning or restricting those imports.
I don't have a formal system of ranking tyranny and shitholery in general, but Trump's America currently seems like a
worse choice, in terms of international relations, compared to China. I'm not saying China is good, far from it. It is a murderous tyrannical regime too. But it is already our largest trading partner, so we have no moral authority, we have already sold out. So if it's a choice between two tyrannies, China is looking pretty good right now to strengthen trade ties and build partnerships. We could also merge aid programs for our Pacific friends, have joint Australia and China aid programs instead of using aid as diplomatic ace of hearts in a card game with China.
Just a few ideas that have popped into my head.
