1/8 of a second is an eternity for a part of a vehicle that requires instant reactions.
The thing with most "fly by wire" setup is that there are usually multiple backups and redundancies in place in case anything goes wrong, just have a look at the backup systems used in aircraft "fly by wire" setups. The problem with the Elon Musk "drive by wire" setup is that there are almost certainly no backups so if it fails at 110kph the next corner is going to kill you! There's nothing inherently wrong with control by wire, but there's a lot wrong with letting idiots apply to areas it should never be used.nibble wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2024 9:40 am There is no way in hell that I'd ever own a vehicle that doesn't have a steering wheel that is mechanically coupled to steering the wheels. Call me old fashioned but this is not an area that needs reinventing. Most other "by wire" systems I'm ok with but not this one.
I wonder what backups cybertruck has for it's system? This is what we get from Tesla;Lexus assured us the steering system has a complete backup with a redundant controller and CAN bus wiring, but it was the company's legendary reliability that set us at ease.
So no-one outside of Tesla itself actually knows whether or not they have backups in place for steer by wire! That's comforting......or not as the case may be.Tesla may do that as well, but because the company provides no technical information to the press or access to the company’s engineers, we don’t know.
https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/social-med ... rcna151945Elon Musk’s social media app X has been placing advertisements in the search results for at least 20 hashtags used to promote racist and antisemitic extremism, including #whitepower, according to a review of the platform.
NBC News found the advertisements by searching various hashtags used to promote racism and antisemitism, and by browsing X accounts that often post racial or religious hatred. The hashtags vary from obvious slogans such as #whitepride and #unitethewhite to more fringe and coded words such as #groyper (a movement of online white nationalists) and #kalergi (a debunked theory alleging a conspiracy to eliminate white people from Europe).
While the hashtags make up a small percentage of what is posted daily on X, they add to previous examples showing how the platform has struggled to maintain control of its ad network and how it intersects with hate speech — an issue that has plagued the platform for years. The placements allow X to monetize extremist content more than 18 months after Musk said that he would demonetize hate posts on the platform he owns.

One example of an illegal boycott occurs when two or more companies agree not to engage in business with another individual or company.
Twitter has been ordered to pay over €550,000 compensation to a former senior executive in its Irish-based operations in what is a record award by the Workplace Relations Commission for an unfair dismissal case.
The WRC heard that the social media giant - now known as X - decided that the employee had resigned when he failed to tick a box requiring him to agree to new unspecified pay and conditions within a one-day deadline in response to an e-mail from the company's new owner Elon Musk in November 2022.
Clear breach of contract, isn't it a pain when other countries actually have and enforce labour laws!In addition, Mr Cush pointed out that his client’s contract of employment stated that a resignation must be given in writing.
