I'm usually wary of Jacqui Lambie because she comes across as a demagogue, but here she is calling for banning these dystopian social media nightmares, starting with xitter, and then acknowledging it's a big call. But it's the right call, fuck yes it is.
"My issue is I just wonder if we've left our run too late cause seriously they're plugged into all our kids out there, seriously, who's going to have the nous to make the political move to say we're going to shut down some of these social media companies?"

I notice she also called for a rethink on negative gearing today. She's always been better than most MPs as far as i'm concerned, notwithstanding the brainfarts every now and then. I'm happy to accept her weird fuck ups though, as long she balances the bad with the good (and also i detest the snobbery she attracts, especially from our end of the political spectrum).
First they came for the 'illegal' immigrants...and i did not speak out because i was not an illegal immigrant.
Then they came for...
If Albo really wanted to send a message to Musk, here's how he could do it:
1) Ask all federal Labor MPs to stop posting on X, and start posting on Mastodon.
2) Order all federal government departments and agencies to stop posting on X, and start posting on Mastodon.
3) Bribe the states to do the same.
"Hi Queensland, guess what? We just found a billion dollars under the couch for a shiny new Olympic stadium. Hi Tasmania, likewise for your new AFL stadium. And look Victoria, here's a few billion for the airport rail link — we'll cover the cost difference to put the airport station underground.
"But only if you direct all your MPs, departments, and agencies to switch to Mastodon."
Elon Musk purchased Twitter exactly two years ago today. To mark the anniversary, Eddie Perez, Twitter's former civic integrity director, announced that leaving Twitter for good — and in a 24-tweet thread delivered a scathing good-bye roast of Musk's disastrous regime
He called Musk a "poster child for divisive racist, sexist, and plutocratic tendencies that undermine democracy's commitment to equality for all." No argument there. He added, "Musk's willingness to burn down what he purchased suggests that he's motivated by a perverse righteousness, not profit." Even his slobbering incel fan base would agree with that.
Perez also accuses the so-called "free speech absolutist" of being a hypocrite:
When Musk talks about protecting "free speech" he really means supporting provocative and/or violent voices — and esp trolls who hate the idea that all people are equal.
Conversely, Musk is quick to stifle speech if it embarrasses him or his companies.
The ultimate insult? Equating Musk to that other reckless man-child, Donald Trump: "a toxic mix of narcissism, insecurity, sexism, and a particularly cruel form of unkindness that seems especially gleeful about punching down on those with less power." No wonder so many MAGA cultists love Elon almost as much as their gaseous dictator!

To know him is to loathe him.

You can tell who's a real prick by the way they deal with those over whom they have power.
Tesla laid off more than 10% of its workforce on Sunday night.
Some factory employees only realized they were laid off when their badges didn't work, sources said.
Staff at the Nevada factory waited two hours to enter because of badge checks, one source said.
