And then just think back a few pages on Musk's desire to make the cybertruck in an amphibious vehicle. Having windows that can't be broken in case of emergency surely must mean the cars have to be declared unroadworthy?

The, "Getting out of your Tesla in an emergency" vid is useful as far as it goes, but useless in a situation where you are sinking in water, the pressure from the water will prevent you from opening the door, there are other strategies, the first being of course always carrying a windows buster in the car with you, well not for Tesla's apparently. The other one is to wait until the car fills up with water completely and then try and open the door, which might work in shallow water like a swimming pool but in deep water how far down are you going before the pressure equalises? Can you hold your breath that long?

Your common sense has no place here in this Tesla/Elon bad thread! Get back to Mythbusters with you!

So in the future Tesla's will come with a scuba option?

I think the main lesson from that video is if you are in an ICE car get into the back seat as it will sink front first and the entire cabin has to fill with water before you will be able to open a door. Adam was unable to get the front door open as he had to wait until all the air was gone from the cabin, not just the air up to the top of the front door.

And from the recent news story I learnt that if it happens in a Tesla hope that you have read the fine print in the manual before hand and know how to open the doors in a panicky emergency situation because apparently Tesla preferred aesthetics over clear easy to find emergency manual controls. If I was the boss of car regulations all new cars would need clearly marked manual controls for doors/windows that also glowed emergency green in the darkness at the bottom of a lake.

And who is the person I'd least want involved in surveillance tech?

But, X's courtroom loss is just one layer here. The judge also made it clear that Musk and his "free speech" company had clearly targeted the CCDH in an effort to punish the group for their speech.

"Sometimes it is unclear what is driving a litigation, and only by reading between the lines of a complaint can one attempt to surmise a plaintiff’s true purpose," Judge Breyer wrote in his dismissal of the suit. "Other times, a complaint is so unabashedly and vociferously about one thing that there can be no mistaking that purpose. This case represents the latter circumstance. This case is about punishing the Defendants for their speech."

This would, to most people, seem like the ideal situation. Musk is, on paper, the most successful man in the world. He’s a social media star, a multi-billionaire with his own social network, and he owns a 20.5 percent stake in the world’s most valuable car company by market cap. He knows — or can easily get in touch with — almost anybody in the world, and has the means to start or incubate any venture under the sun.

Yet with the world at his fingertips, Musk seems joyless, marinating in misery, surrounded by an air of existential bleakness.
And probably a bit poutier after he reads the rest...
