Not political for once, but commercial/environmental.

Cliev wanted to put up to 5000 homes on a flood plain next to a sewage works. (Bet he wasn't going to live there.)

Gold Coast Council said NO.

So did the court.

An old school Muslim-hating fascist won election in the Netherlands. Whatever happened to the relaxed, dope-smoking, free-wheeling, bike-riding polyglot Dutch people who were the best of what Europe could be?

Old school "centre-right" fossils NZ National team up with fossilised populist institution to win power there too.

Meanwhile in Ireland, there's this weird riot that appears to have been instigated by fake news on a racist Telegram channel, mobilising the troops to riot because some children were assaulted, and in QAnon style, it was blamed on a foreigner. My myopic view of Ireland is different to my myopic view of the Netherlands, but it seems that the progressive youth generation who helped weaken the bizarre power of The traditional Catholic child abuse cabal has grown old, and been replaced by a new army of meme-driven alt-right types.

Guardian headline:
King Charles warns of ‘vast, frightening experiment’ on natural world

Pretty much sums up the British monarchy.

We are saved, AI has predicted what workers will look like in 25 years if we all work from home, in response people are rushing back to the office, where they can sit hunched over the desk looking at multiple screens anyway, but with the added bonus of sitting in crowded public transport of spending money to sit driving through peak hour traffic for an hour or maybe two every day, oh lol;

We don't seem to have a general news thread. If we do please move.

I just figured the friendly jordies firebombing was political.

Did anyone else have "the mafia" on their bingo card?

I read on one site that there was a tenuous connection between the charged party and that chap found of suing Jordie.

Arms round shoulders photo was shown.

It seems QANTAS isnow anti-christian.
“Two hours of the most un-Christmassy music I’ve ever heard.

“Over 80 per cent of Australia’s population are generational Australians, and they were brought up on Christmas Carols.

“It would seem then, that Qantas is anti-Christian.”
It appears being trapped in an airport lounge for two hours isn't enough punishment for Katter, he also wants to force everyone to listen to ghastly christmas tunes, for, it appears, 24 hours a day. Is he not aware that being forced to listen to endless christmas music is absolute torture for the poor bastards, the workers who are compelled to be doing things like standing on registers serving, the helpless workers who can do nothing about it, the man is an absolute arsehole. As if not listening to cheesy christmas tunes for hours on end is anti-christian? What a fucking tool!
