She is just a damn good female boxer, and for some reason, unlike damn good male boxers who are celebrated for their achievements, if you are a damn good female boxer you are immediately attacked by the far right! She should sue news.com, I suspect she has a good case!
I am now seeing articles suggesting she has Swyer's syndrome and that is why she was banned from the female world boxing championships..
What a giant fucken mess, and how horrible and unfair for this poor woman dragged through all this shit in the press. :-/
Yeah, but what is curious is that the IBA are so unspecific about the reason for the original banning;
However, controversy surrounding their gender stemmed from their disqualifications at last year’s Women’s World Boxing Championships by the Russian-led International Boxing Association.
The association, which is led by Umar Kremlev, who is reportedly an acquaintance of Vladimir Putin, alleged the two women failed an unspecified gender test that showed they have male chromosomes.
I mean why an "unspecified" gender test, why not just come out and say what it was, it's rather shaky right there, it's almost as if for some reason they wanted her out of the championships but had no valid reason for banning her so they invented a reason.
The timing of the disqualifications, which came just days after Khelif beat an otherwise undefeated Russian boxer, has also been questioned.
Curious that!

I think the best thing to do is ban boxing for all genders. Punching people in the face is not good for anyone, gloves on or off.

Not heard much about the Libertarian Party lately. Just what the world needs, more neoliberalism. I can only wonder at what type of person would run in local politics as a mouthpiece for billionaires and corporate capitalism. They aren't billionaires, and clearly aren't corporates, just wannabes. It's kind of pathetic really.

I am on the lookout for these nutters. I met a councillor at the markets a couple of weeks ago and asked him if he'd seen any evidence of disruptive sovcits, anti-vaxxers, far-right nutters and the like. He said he hadn't seen it in Eurobodalla, other than a bit of mainstream anti-lockdown sentiment which had faded away. I still regard it as a clear and present danger.
I also noted that all the mainstream candidates had magical neo-liberal policies: we will increase services and reduce rates. Typically they would also say that growth and development will make up the shortfall... new businesses and tourism mainly. There was also a bit of "no high-rise" mixed in with it, for an added populist paradox. When I voted one of the worker bees handing out how-to-votes robotically recited the platform: "vote group B for better services and lower rates", and I immediately responded that I actually want higher rates. He said I should move to Ulladulla where rates have just been increased. I was baiting him, I don't actually want higher rates, but inflation is real, wages are too low, and the council has some good services: environment, arts, libraries, the sort of thing that will be dumped first while all this magical new development gets approved, probably with massive discounts on the contributions developers are supposed to make to ease the demands placed on infrastructure. The net effect will be that growth and development will make it worse, not better.

Nice to see a walkout here, the man's an idiot!
“Marriage between a man and a woman was instituted by God at the origin of humanity in the Garden of Eden, as the book of Genesis in the Bible tells us,” Mr de Bruyn told the students on Monday.
“Since then, every society on Earth at all times has recognised marriage as being between a man and a woman.”
Hundreds of staff and students left the auditorium as Mr de Bruyn said: “My experience is that many Catholics cave in to peer pressure”.
Footage shows graduates and their families - plenty who are a similar age to Mr de Bruyn - walking out while he was speaking. Students wearing clothing from religions other than Catholicism can be seen exiting.

News.com at it again;
Roe had protected women’s right to a termination on a nationwide scale a for half a century, but the court ruled that individual states can now elect to permit or restrict the procedure based on a democratic vote at a state level.
That's not true really though is it, demonstrated clearly by Florida's DeSantis rejecting the "democratic" majority vote to protect the right to abortion in the state by 57% to 43%. The state legislature and Governor has the right to ban or allow, not the voters themselves. It doesn't matter what the voters want if they simply refuse to comply!

Florida requires 60% for a constitutional ammendment to pass and has since long before this election rolled around.
De Santis might be all sorts of things but in this instance the ballot failed to meet the legally required benchmark.
Blame USians for being garbage people.

Ah but the ban didn't require a constitutional amendment, so removing it doesn't. An honest Democratic politician, seeing this level of support among the populace for a particular positions, would have taken a good look at what they were doing anyway! (using democratic as in the other meaning, not the party).

Simply removing it would not require a constitutional amendment, correct.
That however would simply leave it to the whims of the next christofascist in the chair to reinstall it. Yoyos forever.
The point of a constitutional ammendment is to remove it from the roundabout. To remove it from the grubby little mits.
In Florida that requires 60%.
Everybody knew that going in.
Look at all these plebiscites. Even where they passed, people voted for the plebiscite, and also voted for the rapist for pres.
People willingly voted to be shit on by a handfull of billionaires. Not that the Dems are any better with the prostration before billionaires gambit. Which is, i suspect, quite a lot to do with their lack of penetration.
Plus, you know, smart black woman. Ain't never gonna happen.
Anericans are garbage
