Re: Things Newly Enshittified

Alix Partners, a global consulting firm, found that more than 60% of consumers are willing to consider subscribing for enhanced safety and convenience features as long they don't feel like they are being charged for something they already paid for. What happens when these enhanced safety features b...

Re: What is Elon Musk up to now..

The upside to the jones decision is that it will facilitate another wave of people closing their accounts. He is widely despised, outside of the craziest far right types, or that's how it seems from afar. It's curious isn't it, you change the moderation so that all the shitty people and right wing ...

Re: Bad Language

Finding ridiculous uses of the word "literally" is too easy, or perhaps I should say I'm literally shooting fish in a barrel. Here's Alok Sharma, saving the world by getting pissed before he travels to a prohibition state. “We are literally in the last chance saloon to save our children’s ...

Re: What shows are you currently watching?

I thought the second and third Doctor Who specials were as successful as the first one was a failure. <nerd mode>It was a shame because it was from a story by 2000AD legend Pat Mills. I could imagine the Meep alongside characters like Walter the Wobot... but it just didn't translate to the Whonivers...

Re: Reading Material

I'm not having a lot of luck with my book choices at the moment. I had to grind through the last bit of the alleged SF Masterwork "Star Maker" by Olaf Stapledon. I don't think I'll bother with "Last and First Men". You can see how Stapledon was an influence on Arthur C Clarke, bu...

It details the suspect's injuries, but it leaves out the most important bit, was the racoon OK after the crash? What a hero!

Re: Notable Deaths

A tradition: Christhebarker at b3ta.com has done the annual Sgt Pepper Cover featuring notable departures. https://www2.b3ta.com/host/creative/4270/1701448290/sgtp23.jpg I love this. The oak tree, the flags and especially the Queen represented by Jamie Reid's Sex Pistols artwork. Bad-arse! Looking ...

The solos in War Pigs are as hard as the power chords are easy. Maybe he could have played some of the lead breaks on a xylophone. :D Other than that, perfect!
