Authoritarian Technocracy

Post by stylofone »

I created a new thread for this reason: with the rise of AI and other developments, it's no longer just about the disturbing use of surveillance or the destruction of commercial trust through enshittification.

After reading the first bit of this article I took a belated step and deleted my facebook account. The google account will be next.

Prompted by the article above, I have been on an account deletion binge. Today was the big one, google. It warned me I was about to shred eight dormant blogs on blogger.com, thousands of messages and photos, an adsense account and youtube "partner" status (pfft!). I'd already downloaded and/or deleted 200 youtube videos as well as doing a bulk data retrieval of the rest. A few things I have allowed to evaporate.

I've never had an uber or tiktok account, or any of the lesser social media germs, so that saved a few minutes.
