One-Post Politics

Posts in this thread might eventually get threads of their own, but are probably one-offs.

Like, for example, the fact that Mark "Breaks Arm Of Cab-Driver" Latham is so soiled that even Pauline's One Neuron doesn't want him as a State leader.

They'd have to staple chops to his lapels to get the dog to play with him.

Antony Green, that wizard of election night, has done some facts and figures on One Nation MPs.
The record of elected One Nation members is remarkable.

. Overall there have been 31 members elected to state or Federal Parliaments and another four appointed to fill casual vacancies.
. Of those 35 members, 20 left the party, one was disqualified before taking their seat, there are five current members apart from the three in the NSW Legislative Council. Seven members lasted long enough to face re-election.
. The only One Nation members ever to be re-elected for the party are Rosa Lee Long and Stephen Andrew to the Queensland Parliament, Hanson and Malcolm Roberts to the Senate, and Mark Latham in NSW.

Grauniad says it's because, even with a chop on his lapel, mainstream media shunned Latham!
a party source told Guardian Australia the decision to sack Latham as leader came after it became clear that the “mainstream media” would not deal with him following his homophobic outburst towards Greenwich.

“No one has been interested in what he has had to say following the Greenwich matter,” the source said. “If Peter Dutton couldn’t do Sunrise … do you think he’d remain [Liberal] leader?

“There’s no point in having a leader that can’t get their message out.”

The insider claimed there was “no animosity” from Hanson’s side. “It’s purely based on a political decision,” they said.
Makes more sense than a sudden onset of principles, eh?

With all the protestable stuff going down, and the tendency of GovCo to act as an agent of PetroChemCo and MoneyCo, it's getting more and more likely that ordinary folk like us, pushed beyond tolerance by inequity or injustice, may find ourselves facing court for protesting.

And the penalties are crippling unless you've got Gina, Kerry, or Cliev in your pocket.

Perhaps lessons can be learned from the years when QLD was run by that goose-stepping peanut, Joh...

As one later commenter said, "How do you spell 'state capture'?"

It takes a conscious effort to put on a shirt for a cause. You think about which one, strip off your old one and pull it over your head for a purpose. This bloke chose Rio Tinto’s shirt. The company that blew up a 46,000 year old sacred rock shelter for profit.
