Days after taking office guess where Trump is? You can't? You can really, where did he spend most of his time during his first term? Yep you guessed it, the golf course!
The US is crumbling, Trump has threatened to put tariffs on Taiwan because he wants to bring semi-conductor manufacturing back to the US, um Taiwan, specifically TSMC, is manufacturing the processors used in most Intel PC's, specifically the very latest processors, how well will that work lol? Other mad stuff, the Trump stamped hamburgers!

In the same vein as the claim of victory against Colombia comes the claim of the US Army marching into California and turning the spigot on to allow water to flow down to the south from the north, apparently it's all downhill, who would have guessed?
Collapse is imminent, all Federal funding funding frozen, Medicaid portals in all states have stopped working, even the ones that agreed to take medicaid extensions. Doctors and Hospitals no longer getting paid, medical procedures no longer able to proceed, 40% of births in the US funded by Medicaid, it's all just stopped at the mad orange ones command. Keep in mind these are funds allocated by congress so the freeze is to funds already approved. This applies ti all federal funding so any other agencies funded by the Federal Government will also be affected. For instance all public schools!
Apparently totally illegal because the President doesn't have the power of impoundment which is what is required to take control of the funds. Trump has basically taken control of the budget away from congress which is specifically reserved for congress. If they just roll over and let him, as they are wont to do, it is one of the major steps to dictatorship, the congress and senate will become essentially powerless and all power will reside in the Presidency. I mean he could just cut off their funding as well right?
It's an important crossroads, if they do bow down after this the only thing stopping him will be the states themselves.

In reality:
The California Department of Water Resources said in a post on X that the “military did not enter California.”
“The federal government restarted federal water pumps after they were offline for maintenance for three days,” the agency posted. “State water supplies in Southern California remain plentiful.”

Apparently a judge has put a stop to the funding freeze, but I'm seriously wondering about the repercussions of all this madness, and "collapse" is a good word. My understanding is that a lot of government revenue collected from blue states flows into red states. If there is a domino effect from the federal government sabotaging itself, then the people losing jobs, dying from lack of health care, falling into poverty etc. as a result of the madness of king Donald, are going to be mostly in MAGA-supporting regions.

Two of the people now in charge of OPM (Office of Personal Management) basically HR for Federal Government and where they just installed an unvetted mail server, are to young to be named in a news report, one of them graduated high school in....wait for it....2024!
Currently with the demand to end WFH for all Federal employees they are being offered severance packages of 8 months pay plus continued health and benefits coverage by the OPM until then to encourage them to either come back to the office or resign. It has been pointed out this is a lie, there is no money, congress must pass the spending budget, and Federal Government is restricted to a max of $25k payout in cases of restructuring, so anyone who takes this offer thinking they will have money to tide them over until they get a new job, well they will be fucked over big time!
The valorization of cruelty should be noted - epitomised by the dick on fox news eating tacos and laughing at deportations. These people are insecure infantile venal bullies. They celebrate vulgarity, violence and unconditional power, but most of all they think cruelty is virtuous and natural.
Personally speaking, I think the best way to resist this shit in the real world on a day to day basis is to not be a dick. Caring is a form of resistance, imo.

Trump orders Musk to get astronauts off ISS "as soon as possible," does that mean he will be allowed to bypass normal safety regulations and approvals for Trump to wave as a victory? He does know there's a reason for the delay, because they want to get them back alive and not as part of a RUD.
“The @POTUS has asked @SpaceX to bring home the 2 astronauts stranded on the @Space_Station as soon as possible. We will do so. Terrible that the Biden administration left them there so long,” Musk posted on X.
The Biden administration didn't want to risk having 2 dead astronauts on their hands, pretty bad optics there if it goes pear shaped because they rushed.

But NASA already put such a plan in place months ago when it asked SpaceX to return astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore from the International Space Station as part of its Crew-9 mission. A delay in that plan was then announced in December because mission teams said they needed more time to prepare a new SpaceX vehicle.

We came in peace for all MAGA-kind. Actually, no it's not even peace. It's hard to be a space enthusiast these days. I've gone right off it after being an Apollo aficionado for so many years.
