A very significant proportion of the maga, and even the non maga crowd, believe Trump is fighting satan and satan's agents in the form of democrats and deep state. Either that or that guns are all that stand between freedom and a communist tyranny. You cannot fact check that away.

As i read somewhere recently, this is a struggle over competing claims regarding reality itself.

Trump is guaranteed 70 million votes, regardless of anything he says or does. Biden will have to entice the right constituencies to get out and vote for him, which won't be easy given how much media space Trump consumes. It's really concerning, red lights should be flashing at the dnc, and everywhere else.

These clowns are spreading bottom of the barrel bullshit, half of which starts out as memes made by 14 year old nazis and spread by paranoid man child anti semites.
There was huge controversy over Bernie Sanders in the 2016 Primary, and that was nothing compared to what this would entail, even then there were street protests and etc, the claim that serious Democratic pundits seem to be in agreement or support the move to put Obama in is specious to say the least, they know that would be the end of the Democratic Party, the voters simply wouldn't stand for it. Unlike Republican's most democrats actually support the electoral process and to claim any would support just kicking Biden out and inserting Obama is ludicrous, but it's exactly the sort of thing what Republicans would like to do, and might still do in a fashion by just declaring Trump the nominee and ending the rest of the primaries. it's all projection basically in the form of, "this is what we would do, therefore other people would do the same." And the MAGA rubes fall for it every time!

This is a 50 minute documentary released late last year from Al Jazeera. (I've linked the youtube version, i don't know if it has ads etc, the comments that i've just read below it pretty much confirms the doco content, ironically. I found it on my local library's free streaming service).

Anyhow, i recommend a watch. It does a good job of exposing the battle for reality. There are some incredible scenes, such as the gulf between a junior GOP congressman calmly describing how gentle the January 6 protestors were, interspersed with actual footage. Nicely done doco makers! The US is crazy. A worthwhile 50 minutes.

"Mercy snakes, good budgie! Looks like we got us a convoy debacle."

Border Bigots Bungle...
On Monday morning, the organizers of the Take Our Border Back convoy kicked off their road trip to the Texas–Mexico border in Virginia Beach. Though they claimed that up to 40,000 trucks would be joining, only 20 vehicles made up the convoy as it rolled into Jacksonville, Florida, 14 hours later. The promised support had not materialized—not a single truck showed up, tires were reportedly slashed, participants got lost, and paranoia struck the group. In short, the convoy was a complete mess.

The convoy was organized last week as a show of support for Texas governor Greg Abbott and his decision to defy the federal government and President Joe Biden about the installation of razor wire along the Texas–Mexico border in Eagle Pass, Texas. While at least one organizer initially said they planned to hunt down migrants along the border in collaboration with sympathetic members of law enforcement, the group appeared to walk back that assertion on Monday, issuing a statement that the convoy would not be heading to the border at all but instead going to Quemado, a tiny town in Catron County, Texas. The group’s website, however, still lists the route of the convoy as “Virginia Beach, VA, to Eagle Pass,” and members of the planning group on Telegram still say they are going to the Texas border.

The organizers also repeatedly stated that the event was peaceful, though online chats in a related Telegram group show members discussing “exterminating” migrants. A known white nationalist who was kicked out of the People’s Convoy in 2022, Ryan Sanchez, is among those most active in the group. Sanchez was previously a Marine Corp reservist who says he was kicked out after he was reported to have been demonstrating alongside the Rise Above Movement, an alt-right street-fighting group that took part in the neo-Nazi rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, in 2017, which led to the death of one counterprotester.

“I think the Eagle Pass rally is going to be the ’main event,’” Sanchez wrote in the convoy Telegram channel. “We need to think strategically and concentrate our limited resources where they will have the greatest effect.”

But on the first day of the convoy, some attendees woke up to find their tires slashed, according to one of the main livestreamers who posted pictures on X of the cars outside a motel. The meeting point also had to be hastily rearranged on Monday morning when the owners of the original location told the organizers they couldn’t gather there.

When the convoy did finally come together in a hotel parking lot in Norfolk, Virginia, there were a few dozen people and around 20 vehicles, based on video footage reviewed by WIRED and comments made by the livestreamers responding to questions from supporters.

The question I have to ask is, who exactly did they think was going to feed an army of 750,000 people in the rather small town with a population of only 28,000 people? In a week the US army would be flying in emergency rations to prevent mass starvation and death, you don't just plop a small city size population in a tiny desert town and expect them to be fed and watered, the infrastructure simply doesn't exist to support that many people.

Fuck about and find out has come and bit them on the arse, 10 GOP lawmakers banned from running for office in Oregon, yes that's right, 10 currently sitting Republican's are banned so now their seats are up for grabs, and at least one looks to flip at the next election;

Whoops. Now there's a lot of talk about polls and voter loyalty and independents and moderates going around from people trying to predict the winner of the 2024 election, but surely a party that according to Fox News is smashing Biden and the Democrats should be riding high on fund raising? Apparently that's not so and the Republican's have had their worst fundraising year since 2013, so you have to ask, why is that? Don't all the MAGA loyalists send in all they can to help? But as with the actual election, the results depend on independents and moderates and who they support, MAGA are mostly poor people from flyover states (of course not all of them but it seems that those wealthier MAGA supporters can make up the difference). While the Democrats and Biden seem to be riding high on funds at the moment, is that indicative of the election results? Honestly I really don't have a clue but it does seem a party that claims to be a shoe in for the election should be doing better at fund raising.

Imagine this repeated thousands of times throughout the country as right wing terrorists murder their own family members for not being as mad as them;
A man accused of decapitating his father and showing the federal worker’s severed head during a politically charged tirade online is charged with murder after he was arrested with a gun at a National Guard base, according to officials and court documents.
During the online diatribe, Mohn railed against the Biden administration and the border crisis while declaring himself the new acting US president under martial law and decrying his father as a traitor. The victim, Michael Mohn, worked for the US Army Corps of Engineers Philadelphia District, the agency told CNN.
That's the future the US has to look forward to unless something serious happens the next election.
