Fuck he's the worlds richest man, in theory he already has all he really will ever need or want, it's not about needs or wants now, it's some sort of mental psychosis, it's to late for him by far.
His latest, he won't hire American engineers because, well not educated and trained enough, what he really thinks is that education and training are a waste of money because they don't bring him a profit, so he's letting other countries educate and train engineers and then hiring them on the cheap in what is basically a slave agreement, the H1B Visa, which means deportation if you are fired, so don't dare do anything to try and protect your rights and wages.

He's been a chaos agent for a while, doing confounding things that would be self-destructive for most other people (e.g. telling advertisers "go fuck yourselves"). I'm pretty sure there are a few absolutely rock solid traits he has that are very predictable. The main one would be his own need to be top dog in the hierarchy at all times, i.e. he's power-hungry and a psychopath.
The chaos he creates makes him look crazy, but it seems he is less affected by it than everyone else, because he has all that money and power, and the ability to create new chaos as a distraction when his last bit of madness wears out.
“Is it legal for Trump to put a tariff on Australia under our free trade agreement?” Mr Costello asked. “We went to great lengths to negotiate this FTA and, as far as I know, it is binding in international law. I would have thought that a universal tariff would be a breach of the FTA, right? So what is the status of the FTA? Is he going to unilaterally repudiate it?”
Well yes, just like the Paris climate agreement and every other international agreement he doesn't like, the NAFTA for instance. I mean what are you going to do if he does just decide to throw it out;
After President Trump's election in 2016, support for NAFTA became very polarized between Republicans and Democrats. Donald Trump expressed negative views of NAFTA, calling it "the single worst trade deal ever approved in this country"
So yes he will if he wants to, and you can't do a thing about it. This is not a bombshell, what are these journalists even thinking, or do they think at all?
Well it's all shaping up as a bit of a cognitive dilemma, isn't it. Neoliberalism loves and loves again free trade agreements, it's a part of the bedrock of the whole economic philosophy. You could perhaps even extend that out by saying free trade agreements are part of the bedrock of capitalism itself, if we take some liberties in regard to free trade agreements being defined as a simple exchange of money for goods or services between two people or entities entered into freely. How does his libertarian fan base reconcile this America first bullshit, i wonder? Even more of a conundrum for his Australian libertarian fan base, i'd have thought, especially for the ones with interests in companies that trade with the US. Yes, there's definitely some comedy to it.
Global capitalism, the globalised economy, is an unfathomably complex system that no one really fully understands, so Trump obviously hasn't a clue. It seems largely based on mutual agreement, like money itself. We just agree that this bit of colorful plastic can be swapped for a beer, everyone agrees, until they don't, i guess. Fuck knows what happens when they stop agreeing. I guess we might find out quite soon.
Trump is giving me the impression that he doesn't really like capitalism all that much, he just wants all of the monies for himself. He is literally a selfish child, (with adhd). Oh well. I'm not entirely sure i care. I mean, putting aside the death, trauma and ecological destruction he might be about to unleash on the world, he may also collapse the global economic system, which is also the cause of death, trauma and ecological destruction...

Is it right to say Trump is a socialist, in the sense of being a "National Socialist", i.e. it's socialism for white people only?

I guess so. NAZI is an acronym for Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei , which translates to National Socialist German Workers Party.
The standard you walk past is the standard you accept.
Trump's peace plan a non-starter, as we expected, but now I finally see the purpose of the Kursk incursion by Ukraine! It was a brilliant move actually and completely designed to counter Trump and his peace plan, it's almost as if Zhelensky knew what Trump would propose...well we all did didn't we, and took steps in advance to curtail it?
“Judging from numerous leaks and Donald Trump’s interview with Time Magazine on December 12, their idea is to suspend hostilities along the line of contact and transfer responsibility for confrontation with Russia to the Europeans,” Mr Lavrov said at a news conference.
Zhelensky knew that Putin would never agree to any peace plan as long as it left some of Russia under Ukraine control, which this would! So to effectively stop Trump giving away part of Ukraine to Putin he had to make sure that any such deal would result in Putin giving away part of Russia to Ukraine. I mean while a distraction the incursion and holding of the land made little sense, it's costly and takes a lot of manpower and equipment, they could have done the same with repeated incursions and withdrawals from Russian territory if the idea was to draw forces away from the main battle lines.
Mr Lavrov warned that Mr Trump’s reported plan was a complete non-starter and that Moscow “would refuse to accept Ukraine’s NATO membership regardless of the territorial factor.”
Given that NATO membership would be put off for 20 years Putin would have taken what he was given, rebuilt his forces and invaded the rest of Ukraine in another 5 years, if only it didn't involve giving Ukraine some of Russia!
I could put this in the Musk thread too, but I also wonder about the broader trends. After 2016 terms being used were tyranny, fascism, despotism, kakistocracy etc.. Now oligarchy is the particular flavour of bad shit creeping in to the USA's mud pie. Maybe as time goes on there will be a new name for the particular malignancy Trump and his ilk represent, maybe it will be the shittocracy, who knows?
Unusual for news.com, calling Trump out on his lies;
President-elect Donald Trump has made a series of false claims following a suspected terror attack in the US.
At least 15 people are dead and 35 more are injured after a man drove a pick-up truck into New Year’s revellers in the American city of New Orleans.
The incident is being treated, by law enforcement, as an act of terrorism.
The driver, who was reportedly killed in a firefight with police officers, has been identified as 42-year-old Shamsud-Din Jabbar, an American-born citizen and military veteran who grew up in Texas.
Mr Trump immediately linked the horrific attack to illegal immigration, giving no evidence — before authorities made clear the suspect was American.
“When I said that the criminals coming in are far worse than the criminals we have in the country … it turned out to be true,” Mr Trump posted on social media.
Born in America, served in the military, lived in Texas, so much for immigration bad, born American's better. Statistics show that's a false narrative, but never let the truth get in the way of a good story I suppose. I note the minimisation of the act though, made a series of false claims, not LIED!
