Trump cabinet picks are flowing thick and fast, the latest is defense secretary, be good old republican politician right, experienced warhawk, used to managing big government departments and knows what to expect. Yes indeed it's.....a FOX news host! No, no, that's not a joke, a FOX news host is to be Secretary of Defense;

Further to that appointment, he actually thinks germs aren't real!
However on air he suggested micro-organisms were not real because they cannot be seen by a human’s naked eye.

It appears, as expected, all the worst people are getting top jobs, most of these people are so inexperienced, or simply witless and gormless, that it is raising alarm across the world.

Supposedly it was a joke, but we'll see!

Sounds to me like he'd make an excellent secretary of health.

Teh Graun has a healthily skeptical take on it, quoting bemused Republicans. I checked a corresponding politico article, which also discussed potential challenges in the confirmation process. But I would have thought that Trump would demand rubber stamping of his picks, turning the House and Senate into a Beijing style theatrical event. My expectation is that the Republicans supposedly aghast at Gaetz etc. will be trampled. That's what this election was all about. But I really don't know. It will be interesting to see if ANY of Trump's picks, even the most execrable individuals, face any confirmation roadblocks when the time comes.

It's a clean sweep! The executive, the parliament (both houses) and the not impartial judiciary. That de-fanged fourth estate, the media, is either ignored or a mouth piece for Trump.

It's a completely clean canvas, have at it GOP. Create your fucking utopia, there is nothing stopping you. Let's all see how great the US is about to become.

If Trump actually wants to be a fascist, there really isn't anything that can check him, at least formally. It will be a curiosity to see how far he goes. The broader christian nationalist ideology that underpins the GOP is overtly fascistic in its various policies, but Trump is a narcissistic idiot that seems to long for adulation and money beyond anything else and it isn't certain that he'll go full nazi. He might though. But if his maga fan base get grumpy i think he might retreat from the brink. He hates those people, but he probably can't live without their love.

Honestly, I feel as though the world has become a black comedy.

Yep, Matt Gaetz resigned from his position in congress, 2 days before the vote to release the findings of the ethics committee investigating his conduct. By doing so, the committee can longer vote to release their findings because they can only undertake investigations into sitting members!

The same day he quit congress, thus sidelining the ethics committee, Trump announced him as his pick for AG. Hopefully there will be some "leaks" of the ethics committee report so we can see exactly what sort of person will now be running the federal justice system in the US. It really makes a mockery of anything congress does.

Kennedy is his health secretary pick. :o :shock:

On a day when The Onion bought Infowars, satire is sane, the institutions of government are crazy!
