Far out, I've got Trumpet of Patriots, One Nation AND Family First all running candidates in my electorate! I'm still putting Liberal last, there is something very deceptive and disturbing about far right ideas creeping into the supposedly centre right major party. The others are more upfront about their malignancy.stevebrooks wrote: ↑Wed Apr 16, 2025 7:42 pmYep, that's all you can do, all I do every election, look for the worst party and mark them last.

Don't think I've seen any of those here, just the Greens, Liberal and labor, and the other regular ones with "christian" in their names, there always seem to be a few like that.stylofone wrote: ↑Fri Apr 18, 2025 8:57 amFar out, I've got Trumpet of Patriots, One Nation AND Family First all running candidates in my electorate! Re: Aus Election 2025
Dutton appears to be getting further behind in the election race, but after the Trump debacle I am risking no money, betting sites are all running with Labor, but you can't help that nagging feeling right?
Yeah emotional gene, we've seen that for sure, honestly I am not sure he know what emotions are, he certainly didn't use them on deciding to bring his kids out to play! After every federal election, there’s a campaign week that is looked back on as the decider.
A week where the puzzle pieces start to come together and one camp is forced to ask “do we need to change tack?”
For Peter Dutton, week three needed to be a winner. Instead, it was an absolute dud.
A “mistake” on Russian planes in Indonesia. A delayed admission on housing deposits for his kids. A muddled “aspiration” on tax reforms.
Inside the trail, there’s a feeling the Coalition’s petrol-drenched campaign is quickly circling the drain at the bowser.
But with less than two weeks before polling day, does the party really have enough time to turn things around?
Mr Dutton’s week started out strong – with a solid campaign launch at the Liverpool Catholic Church on Sunday.
We got a much-needed glimpse into the Opposition Leader’s softer side in a video about his family, where he admitted to inheriting his father’s “emotional gene”.
“I think I’ve worked pretty hard at the years to hide it. It doesn’t really get rewarded in our business, so better off not to show the vulnerabilities,” the former Queensland police officer stated.
Newspoll then dropped on Sunday night, showing Mr Dutton was falling further out of favour with Australians. It was time to desperately switch gears.
The Opposition leader tried to keep the family sentiment going, bringing his son Harry out onto the campaign for the start of the week.
https://www.news.com.au/national/federa ... e9a8557eedMaybe it’s just the fact that the Opposition Leader had been doing this for too long.
Each day on week 3 of the campaign trail has been largely the same. A visit to some kind of construction or housing site to spruik the party line, a visit to a petrol site and an afternoon pic opp of packing boxes of some kind alongside well-vetted voters.

A press conference per day, where journalists are allowed one question per day. No follows are up allowed, with Mr Dutton dodging questions left, right and centre.
It makes for a very dry, scripted campaign with little authenticity.

Ah yes, Dutton has changed his mind on forcing everyone back to the office:
https://www.news.com.au/national/federa ... 5b2e70885d
They keep opening their mouths and they keep shoving their own two feet in there, amazing!Joining the Prime Minister on the campaign trail today, Education Minister Jason Clare accused the Liberal Party of having secret ambitions to continue with their dumped policy to end work from home for public servants.
Mr Clare said the Sydney Morning Herald had published an interview with Liberal Senator Jane Hume, quoting her as saying it was “good policy” but not the “appropriate time”.
“When the Liberal Party say it’s not the appropriate time, you know what that means,” he said.
“They think the right time to change this is after the election … they’re just pretending, trying to con people into voting for them in a couple of weeks.
“This cover up didn’t last two weeks.”

Re: Aus Election 2025
I made the mistake of asking a couple of my customers who they were voting for today......one is voting LNP because 'small business'. Lol.
The other was a cooker. I'm really not sure you can reach either of those people.
In other news, why am I not surprised that the (Gerard Rennick) People First Party website isn't working........

In response, Ms O’Neil accused Senator Hume of “a whole bunch of excuses.”
“Nat, you mentioned this work from home terrible doozy that the coalition put forward. It just demonstrated that there’s just a lack of understanding about what goes on in the lives of Australian women,’’ she said.
“You’re seriously suggesting you haven’t thrown any mud?,’’ Labor frontbencher Jane Hume interjected.
“Sorry, do you mind if I speak, Jane?,’’ Ms O’Neil responded.
“Sling away!,’’ Senator Hume shot back.
“And it’s not our policy. It’s not our policy. It’s not our policy. It’s not our policy, so stop talking about it.”
Ms O’Neil then asked, “Can we try to be polite to each other? You’ve had your turn
“You are being so incredibly rude, Jane.
“Nat, can you silence her microphone, please?.”
Barr replied, “I’d love to … I think you got your point across.”

Re: Aus Election 2025
Just finished 4 and a half hours at pre-poll. It's not any different to any other election I've worked on. I wonder whether people have seen what is happening in the USA and thinking 'fuck no, we don't want that'.
Re: Aus Election 2025
I hope so.
I've got a shift on pre-poll tomorrow. I'll report back.
First they came for the 'illegal' immigrants...and i did not speak out because i was not an illegal immigrant.
Then they came for...
Re: Aus Election 2025
Pretty amazing how busy pre-polling was. The wait time varied but got up to 50 minutes at various stages and it was an unseasonably hot day, 27C! But no one wanted to talk about climate change...
It's so hard to guess where the votes were going. Mostly conservative i reckon but the booth incorporated some conservative suburbs and also there were lots of elderly people voting, presumably to beat the rush on election day (which didn't work out for them).
One notable point is the fantastic turn out for Vic Socialists. I reckon they may just pinch a senate seat down here.

Re: Aus Election 2025
Our pre-poll today wasn't as busy as yesterday but was pretty constant. It's still going ok. It's really hard to get a feel for how things are going with how to vote cards. Lots of people take all, lots of people take none, you get the odd person that is quite exuberant and the odd one that is borderline abusive. I do know however that all of the sign waving I did previously was super positive.
Saturday is expected to be big, only 3 days of pre-poll available this week and the last non working day before the election.
