Hmm, Trump has done his final transformation and turned into that guy who stands on the street corner with sandwich boards yelling out Dooooooom over and over again!
Donald Trump has claimed the United States is “going to die” if he loses November’s presidential election, in a rally speech that was wide-ranging in its subject matter, even by his standards.

On Saturday, US time, Mr Trump travelled to Pennsylvania, perhaps the most important swing state in that upcoming election, to address a crowd of his supporters.

“Our country’s going to die,” he told them, referring to the prospect of his opponent, current Vice President Kamala Harris, becoming president next January.
Honestly the more he posts stuff like this the more swing voters will realise he's an absolute nutter. It didn't die when he was in charge the first time, but no thanks to him I suspect, and Harris is far better candidate for President...go Kamala!

JFK Junior has dropped out of the race and endorsed Trump for President, some think this may be the end of the Dem's hopes to win the Presidency, it's a bit early to call though as Kamala continues to gain on Trump, there's certainly no guarantee that all of JFK supporters will vote for Trump. JFK was the least worse option for many of them, and Trump may in fact be the worst choice and they may vote for Kamala, but it's way to early to call as many of the RW media are doing so already. Just wait and see what effect it has over the next few weeks.

Trump, after deriding Kamala Harris for not doing interviews like he does, walked away from an interview when it became apparent that the people interviewing him were going to cheat by using actual facts instead of letting him ramble on and lie like usual!

Arlington cemetery dispute, Trump campaigners push and shove staff, the Trump statement?
In a statement to NPR, Steven Cheung, the Trump campaign's spokesman, strongly rejected the notion of a physical altercation, adding: "We are prepared to release footage if such defamatory claims are made.

"The fact is that a private photographer was permitted on the premises and for whatever reason an unnamed individual, clearly suffering from a mental health episode, decided to physically block members of President Trump's team during a very solemn ceremony," Cheung said in the statement.

The Trump campaign declined to make that footage immediately available.

In a statement to NPR, Arlington National Cemetery said it "can confirm there was an incident, and a report was filed."

"Federal law prohibits political campaign or election-related activities within Army National Military Cemeteries, to include photographers, content creators or any other persons attending for purposes, or in direct support of a partisan political candidate's campaign," according to the statement. "Arlington National Cemetery reinforced and widely shared this law and its prohibitions with all participants."
My bold there to emphasise the stupid!

So deny, accuse others of mental health problems, break federal law, refuse to provide evidence, time to arrest and charge people!

JD Vance attempting to make small talk with staff as he orders donuts might seem like a trivial issue, but I found his awkwardness and inability to relate to normal people to be quite extreme. He is such a millstone it's both great and horrible at the same time.

Someone also mixed it with the vast contrast of Tim Walz doing something similar.

In a remarkable turn of events, events that happened at Arlington, where it's a Federal crime to take video and pictures in section 60 to be used for political purposes, where notices exist to warn people of this, and visitors are told of this rule, where Trump campaign heavies shoved a female attendant to one side and accused her of mental health problems, an attendant who is now afraid to make a police complaint due to the danger to her family from Trump supporters, and video and picture later used on tiktok to promote Trumps candidacy, it was revealed by none other than Trump himself that it was all a setup from the Biden administration from the very beginning......

I read this book last night (only 140 pages, a long essay really). The basic thesis is that the parallels between the 1920s and 30s and the last two decades are impossible to ignore. Nothing that hasn't already been widely referenced i suppose but it was a good read largely due to its length, which is basically one sitting. Consequently, it contained a certain shock impact. Of course none of this means necessarily that we're locked into an inevitable world war 3, nor does it mean that the emergence of far right strong men will continue unchecked all the way to Dachau...but then again it might.

I did agree with the rough conclusion that unless you resolve the economic conditions that are impoverishing ever expanding numbers of people, fascist solutions will maintain their momentum. The only way to do that is to radically reform capitalism and global resource distribution, which to me seems next to impossible, but who knows...

The point, i guess, is that even if Trump loses this election, and he fails to rally any type of serious coup (and they are probably the most likely scenarios), the people attending MAGA events will not just fade away. Their numbers will grow as their economic and material conditions worsen. This is the real lesson from the 1930s. Without radical reform, a democrat win in November starts to look just a bit like a temporary reprieve. Scarily, whoever crawls to the top of the shit heap to take over is almost certainly going to exceed Trump in any measure of competence imaginable.

My conclusion is that Trump is really not the problem.

Yep. Exactly.

I find Australia is about 5 to 10 years behind the USA as well. The only thing saving us is compulsory voting and lower religious influence.

I'm amazed more people can't see the similarities with 1920's Germany.
