New crime drama The Irrational - behavioural scientist solves crimes.

Episode 1 was enjoyable, and we look forward to Ep 2.

While The Men Are Away - WW2 rural Oz and culture, like never portrayed before.

Eight 30-minute episodes, and the first was very enjoyable.

Obituary - It's Irish, it's murder, and it's blackly funny in a way that's hard to do.

Small-town reporter, paid per article for obits, starts making her own work.

We're loving it.

I couldn't stand it, I had to stop watching after about 10 minutes. I completely accept what it's trying to do, and I'm glad it works, but it didn't work for me.

It reminds me of the Fawlty Towers scene where the Major lists a whole bunch of racist words for foreigners. Everyone laughs because the creators assume everyone hates racism the same as they do and will laugh at it to weaken it. But you can't make that assumption any more. The Major is treated with affection, and his list of racist terms just isn't that funny, despite the uproarious laugh track in response to it.

I'm looking forward to seeing what Taika Waititi does with The Incal. Hunt for the Wilderpeople and Boy are bother superb movies, so full of love.

"For All Mankind" resumes later this week. The shows I follow are a little bit sparse at the moment, maybe there'll be a flood next year. I was just reminded of director Alex Garland ("Ex Machina", "Annihilation", "Men"), and I read he is working on a film called "Civil War", set a few years in the future. It sounds like it could be very good.... at depicting very bad things.

Mrs Sidhu Investigates - "Mrs. Sidhu is a caterer with a taste for solving mysteries. Her sleuthing turns into an unofficial partnership with dour DCI Burton, who reluctantly accepts that together they make the perfect pairing to fight crime."

And in an early scene... goodness gracious me! - what did we see but Meera Syal with two small aubergines! (Some will get the reference.)

90 minute episodes and the right mix of mystery and comedy: Herself and I enjoyed episode 1 immensely.
