Well technically it is faster over a given distance, which is not the distance Elon claimed it was faster over. As we all know, EV's have huge torque from zero upwards, so over a short distance it may beat any Porsche, of course the more powerful the Porsche the shorter the distance it will be faster over. I mean all he had to do was tell the truth, the truck beat the Porsche over 1/8th of a mile but was edged out over a 1/4 mile and everyone would have still been happy and impressed, but he had to lie, because that's what he does, lie!

The Great Enshittification - some stats.

Australia’s eSafety Commissioner Julie Inman Grant has released a new transparency report that shows social media platform X (formerly Twitter), owned by Elon Musk’s X Corp, has significantly eroded protections for the safety of its users.

According to information X Corp was required to hand over to the eSafety Commission, the company has made deep cuts to safety and public policy personnel.

The report says X’s global trust and safety staff have been reduced by a third, including an 80 per cent reduction in the number of safety engineers, since Twitter was acquired by Musk in October 2022.

The company has also informed that the number of moderators it directly employs on the platform has been reduced by more than half, while the number of global public policy staff has also been reduced by almost 80 per cent.

It also said it had reinstated more than 6100 previously banned accounts since the October 2022 acquisition, 194 of which were previously suspended by the platform for hateful conduct violations.

The eSafety Commission understands the figures provided by X Corp relate to accounts in Australia, rather than globally, while international media reports suggest that more than 62,000 previously suspended accounts were reinstated globally.

Deliveries of the Tesla Model 3 will be halted in Australia from today after the electric car was found to be in breach of Australian motor-vehicle regulations.

Customers were advised today deliveries will be paused indefinitely "from close of business 17 January 2024" due to a "technical compliance matter that we are working closely with the relevant authorities to resolve."

Tesla is yet to advise what will happen to updated Model 3 electric cars which have been delivered to customers so far, and if they will be recalled to resolve the compliance issue.

Drive was first to report last week that the updated Model 3 was being investigated by Australian authorities for removing access to a child-seat anchor point needed to pass motor-vehicle compliance rules.

Muck truck yuck.

A Tesla Cybertruck owner who took his wheeled wedge off-road ended up with busted wheel fairings and self-detaching wheel covers for his trouble – and all without the thing being able to make it up a challenging hill.

Ben Levin, a Cybertruck driver and owner of Tesla aftermarket services provider VoyageATX, shared his experience in a YouTube video published on Sunday, in which he described his adventures as "an absolute win" despite many problems.

The Cybertruck’s most obvious failure as an off-road vehicle came during an attempt to climb a hill that was easily summited by a Toyota 4runner and Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness driven by Levin's friends. You can see how it went in the video below.
