What matters isn't whether any of this has been done before, and more authentically, and well enough to be built upon—what matters is that this particular rich man-child hasn't done it yet, from scratch, for himself and for his own dream of being The Most Special Boy. In the absence of any real opportunity to envision a brighter future, you sign up to support some inheritance goober's personal fantasy camp by dumping money into his company or buying his stupid-looking car. In this way, you are meant to understand, you have participated in the great grand adventure of discovering tomorrow.

Then the wheel falls off while you're driving, or the autopilot plows into a jersey wall, and you're meant to be thrilled.* Glad even. Grateful! This is proof: You were an early adopter. A beta tester, a brave explorer.
Nah, Fuck that.

Yeah I think I mentioned a few times, the single reason Tesla is allowed to sell cars is because they got in early and the world needed a major electric car startup to show it could actually be done. If there was already a major electric car industry when they started there's a good chance Tesla's would have been banned as being to dangerous to allow on the roads.

I have a Hyundai diesel i30, the original model released in 2007, the single repair ever carried out to that car outside of scheduled service and tire replacement, wheel alignment, new battery etc was a clutch replacement, it's done over 200,000kms. It's been so good and reliable I literally have never even had to get the spare tire out, yes not a single flat tire in 200,000kms! Tesla's are indeed junk and it's about time they started doing reliability charts like they do for ICE vehicles, only solely focused on EV's so people can actually see how much junk they are.

I actually think that original i30 was the very best release of that particular model, better designed and more reliable than later models. I have driven a few later models and while they were nice cars to drive, the redesigned body did them no favours at all. While I may indeed be biased, that model Hyundai i30 diesel may be one of the best small cars ever made at least by Korean car makers and maybe wider afield. Tesla's, they're crap mate.

It made a lot of noise, raised some dust, and then...
Hyperloop One, the futuristic transportation company building tube-encased lines to zip passengers and freight from city to city at airplane-like speeds, is shutting down, according to people familiar with the situation.

Once a high-profile startup, Hyperloop One raised more than $450 million since its founding in 2014, according to PitchBook. It built a small test track near Las Vegas to develop its transportation technology, and for a time took the name Virgin Hyperloop One after Richard Branson’s Virgin invested. Virgin removed its branding after the startup decided last year to focus on cargo rather than people.

Now, the company has laid off most of its employees, and is trying to sell its remaining assets, including the test track and machinery, according to one of the people, who asked to remain anonymous discussing private information. In early 2022, the company employed more than 200 people. The business has also closed its Los Angeles office. The remaining workers, tasked with overseeing the asset sale, were told their employment will end on Dec. 31.

Lol. "Small test track". It's a couple of hundred metres of fairly large sewer pipe.

Yeah that's one annoying thing about my Hyundai, the doors all lock once you hit 40kph, and even more annoyingly not only do they not unlock when you stop, you have to turn the motor off and remove the key for them to unlock by themselves, otherwise you have to use the button on the drivers door to do so. So if that malfunctions and you want to pick someone up you by the roadside you either have to lean over to unlock the door, really hard if it's the rear door, or turn the car off and remove the key. I can see why they do it, stops kids etc opening the car door while moving, but why don't they unlock when you stop?

It can be turned on or off in my car and be based on speed or just when you put into drive and park... I like the later setting, put the car in drive and all doors lock, put it into park and they all unlock again. They call it "anti car jacking" feature though.. lol..

Apparently he's gone in a banning spree of all Xitter accounts that are even remotely critical of him or anything he supports!
