Yeah I think I mentioned a few times, the single reason Tesla is allowed to sell cars is because they got in early and the world needed a major electric car startup to show it could actually be done. If there was already a major electric car industry when they started there's a good chance Tesla's would have been banned as being to dangerous to allow on the roads.Irrev-Black wrote: ↑Fri Dec 22, 2023 9:14 am Should that be "Ah, lovely build quality! So brave and pioneering!"?
Nah, Fuck that. What matters isn't whether any of this has been done before, and more authentically, and well enough to be built upon—what matters is that this particular rich man-child hasn't done it yet, from scratch, for himself and for his own dream of being The Most Special Boy. In the absence of any real opportunity to envision a brighter future, you sign up to support some inheritance goober's personal fantasy camp by dumping money into his company or buying his stupid-looking car. In this way, you are meant to understand, you have participated in the great grand adventure of discovering tomorrow.
Then the wheel falls off while you're driving, or the autopilot plows into a jersey wall, and you're meant to be thrilled.* Glad even. Grateful! This is proof: You were an early adopter. A beta tester, a brave explorer.

I have a Hyundai diesel i30, the original model released in 2007, the single repair ever carried out to that car outside of scheduled service and tire replacement, wheel alignment, new battery etc was a clutch replacement, it's done over 200,000kms. It's been so good and reliable I literally have never even had to get the spare tire out, yes not a single flat tire in 200,000kms! Tesla's are indeed junk and it's about time they started doing reliability charts like they do for ICE vehicles, only solely focused on EV's so people can actually see how much junk they are.
I actually think that original i30 was the very best release of that particular model, better designed and more reliable than later models. I have driven a few later models and while they were nice cars to drive, the redesigned body did them no favours at all. While I may indeed be biased, that model Hyundai i30 diesel may be one of the best small cars ever made at least by Korean car makers and maybe wider afield. Tesla's, they're crap mate.
