If Israel is prepared to nuke Gaza, then they don't deserve territory.

The Greens have stormed out of Senate question time to protest what they say is Albanese government inaction over the conflict in Gaza.

The Greens deputy leader, Mehreen Faruqi, led the boycott declaring that Labor’s “weasel words are not going to stop war crimes” by Israel and shouting “free, free Palestine” with her fist raised.

The boycott came after Faruqi asked the trade minister, Don Farrell, about Australia “shamefully” abstaining from a UN resolution calling for a ceasefire. The Albanese government had done so arguing the motion was “incomplete” because it did not mention Hamas as the perpetrator of the 7 October attack.

If there is to be a racial state it can only be maintained by genocide. It is a bad idea that bodes death and destruction for the world in greater scale than otherwise would occur.

Joele this is of course hard for people in the Jewish community. Is there any suggestions for how to ask how people feel about what is going on?

There is no law. There is only war. As it was sung by Bob Marley and spoken by Haile Selassie.

International politics is nightmarish, and I think I mean that literally because it doesn't seem to adhere to the rules of normality, it's more like the terror you can feel when visited by inescapable, irrational, powerful demons in your sleep.

I think it best to let them bring it up if they choose to, as you have said there is a certain social/community cost for offering how they feel (if not towing the line) that I think prevents many from feeling comfortable to talk about how they feel, which is probably rather complex to say the least..

There is also sensitivity from being attacked by non Jews for the actions of Israel's right wing government which would probably make many think twice about the motives of someone asking them that. (Not an accusation of the motives of anyone asking that question, as it may be from a good place, or just curiosity, but often it is not and so there would be fear of why they are being asked).

On a related note Anti Jewish attacks are on the rise worldwide, I was reading in France most Jewish day schools have had to close as 819 anti Jewish incidents have been reported there in the last month alone. I am not sure what they intend to achieve, though the reality of what they have achieved is an influx of French Jews arriving in Israel and seeking citizenship as they don't feel safe in France, which will just further inflame problems. It's a shame as Jewish immigration to Israel has been on the decline, despite increases in Russian and Ukrainian Jews fleeing their respective countries, but the retribution taken out on Jews for the actions of the Israeli government has already turned that around making up for any decreases (and then some).
