Sweden resists Musky stonewalling on labour agreements.

Swedish workers are uniting against Tesla. From tomorrow, cleaners will stop cleaning Tesla showrooms, electricians won’t fix the company’s charging points, and dockworkers will refuse to unload Tesla cargo at all Swedish ports. What started as a strike by Tesla mechanics is spreading, in something Swedish unions describe as an existential battle between Elon Musk’s carmaker and the conventions they say make the country’s labor market fair and efficient.

The standoff in Sweden is the biggest union action the company has faced anywhere in the world. Sweden doesn’t have laws that set working conditions, such as a minimum wage. Instead these rules are dictated by collective agreements, a type of contract that defines the benefits employees are entitled to, such as wages and working hours. For five years, industrial workers’ union IF Metall, which represents Tesla mechanics, has been trying to persuade the company to sign a collective agreement. When Tesla refused, the mechanics decided to strike at the end of October. Then they asked fellow Swedish unions to join them.

“Collective agreements form the backbone of the Swedish labor market model,” says Mikael Pettersson, head of negotiations at the electricians’ union, which plans to join the blockade tomorrow. “Fighting for the Swedish model becomes even more crucial when it involves such a large company as Tesla.” Negotiations are currently at a standstill. IF Metall spokesperson Jesper Pettersson told WIRED that there are no ongoing talks with Tesla as of Wednesday.

But I noticed this morning that John Scalzi and PZ Myers have been pushed over the edge, they have now sworn off it, even for boring practical "announcement" type usage. I hope there are more who I haven't heard about, who are dumping it.

Investor backlash against the Enshittifier?

Tesla shareholders condemned Elon Musk’s antisemitic behavior, on his own social media platform, X, and other media outlets Thursday. Some investors are publicly saying he should be suspended, according to a Bloomberg report Friday. Apple also took action over Musk’s tweets by pausing ads on X, Axios reported Friday.

The backlash came after Musk endorsed a tweet saying Jewish communities push “hatred against whites”. He said the tweet was “the actual truth,” and proceeded to attack the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), a civil rights group advocating against antisemitism.

Remember the quaint notion that women, black people, LGBT groups. etc., NEEDED twitter, and if you disagreed you could expect the angry retort "go fuck yourself"?

Back then I said it was "all over", meaning that whatever benefit twitter gave to those causes was outweighed by the power and influence they would give to Musk and his fascist cohort by being part of his platform.

Now I'm wondering when we can say that from a business perspective, it's "all over" for twitter. Skum has enough money to keep it on life support, but it gets to a point where his wealth is dependent on collaboration with creditors, shareholders, the EV industry etc., and they will turn on him if he sacrifices their wealth for his own agenda of hate.
