Imagine if they could harness the spin from certain offices in Canberra!
Spaceflight company Spinlaunch is conducting a feasibility study to determine if two areas of crown land off the Eyre Highway could be used as a launch site for its orbital accelerator.
Unlike traditional launch systems, the accelerators use kinetic energy to catapult projectiles into the upper atmosphere before rockets push them into orbit.
The US company is looking at several sites around the globe, including two on the south coast of Western Australia near Mundrabilla, 800 kilometres from Kalgoorlie, and 1,300km from Perth.
