I think the Obamacare/affordable care act confusion comes from a social media exchange in 2016. The 2024 campaign around healthcare wasn't anywhere near as prominent as it was 8 years ago. The Democrats getting ready for an 'i told you so' moment is infuriating, what a bunch of fartcups.

Good move Joe! You've just de-fanged the entire party's capacity to critique the small army of pardons Trump will offer his supporters and foot soldiers. Democrats being democrats i suppose. The most well polished turds in the world, (though our ALP is rapidly catching up to them).

Re: Donald Trump
Trumps pick for cabinet positions madly deleting incriminating tweets wholesale, nice video on it here. Just thinking this should be made illegal, records of public comments by members of the cabinet, even incoming members, should be permanent public records just so the general public can see what they are getting;

Re: Donald Trump
I suspect this was partly driven by Kash Patel's statement that when he takes over the FBI he was going to lock Hunter Biden away forever. If there's any case in the US that is obviously driven by political influence it's the Hunter Biden case. If it hadn't been for the Republican party the case would have been over years ago with the plea deal that many other people with the same charges have taken but that the Republcians torpedoed. I mean can you blame Joe Biden when he hears the incoming FBI nominees say they are just going to ignore normal justice processes to punish his son unfairly?pipbarber wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 6:23 am I think the Obamacare/affordable care act confusion comes from a social media exchange in 2016. No, of course i understand the emotional situation here for Joe. Politically its a terrible move though, and i doubt it'll save him anyway. If they still want to pursue Hunter
i'm sure new offences can be invented and prosecuted easily enough in the magaverse.
But anyway, locating my sympathies for the Biden clan is a bit of a struggle, quite honestly. Joe should never have run for re-election and who knows what might have happened in a full primary, who might have emerged.
I'm pretty much in a fuck the biden's sort of space (although of course what maga are doing is political persecution, and i'm not at all ok with that).

No more politically terrible than many of Trump's pardons, but did we see endless news headlines and articles on how outraged the Democrats are at Trump's pardons? No? I wonder why!

Video here that the Republican's in congress intend to continue to attack, investigate and harass Hunter Biden after the Trump administration takes over, and possibly Joe Biden and other members of his family.

Sounds like an important position....historically charged with helping presidents make important decisions and developing evidence-based recommendations on policy.
It's ok, don't worry. The new guy worked for paypal and he also has a podcast...so totally qualified.The committee is currently co-chaired by three esteemed scientists, including Dr Arati Prabhakar, an engineer and applied physicist and former director of the National Institute of Standards and Technology.

I haven't got the expertise or the imagination to predict how this is all going to turn out. We know Trump is a buffoon, but this time he is appointing an administration with an overwhelming preponderance of buffoons, much more than last time, when he appointed SOME people who tried to to a serious job, but soon after started telling everyone what a clown he is (Tillerson, Mattis etc.).pipbarber wrote: ↑Fri Dec 06, 2024 4:25 pm https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/202 ... -ai-crypto

Trump also plans to purge the public service and remove competent people. Cost-cutting will also reduce the ability of the government to function.
The friendly fire of tariffs has been discussed, also the nightmare if there is a disease outbreak. But there are so many potential crises looming in areas we haven't even thought of yet.
I recently heard an expert talking about the French public sector, which is structured to continue functioning during an extended period of political crisis. The US already has its frequent government shutdown crises. I wonder what form the new chaos will take this time around as Trump reduces its ability to function at all.
I can feel it

Yeah, it's really funny how the moment there's a crisis in the US the entire system basically collapses. In recent news, talking of buffoons, Elon Musk has a new target, the ACLU, a privately funded and run organization in the US, make a special note of that privately funded, the ACLU doesn't take a dime of government funding;stylofone wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2024 7:22 amI recently heard an expert talking about the French public sector, which is structured to continue functioning during an extended period of political crisis. Yes he is that clueless, he actually thinks they can defund a privately run and financed organisation, that's not defunding, that's stealing money, but then again he's a billionaire so he has got away with the same stuff for so long he probably think he can actually do that!Elon Musk posted a tweet yesterday calling for the defunding of the ACLU: The American Civil Liberties Union.
