What is the mindset behind driving like that? Is it to save a fraction of a second in travel time? Is it because they're unable/too lazy to turn their car's steering wheel a few more degrees?

In less than 500 m of driving distance, we have:

• A driver cutting a corner - it may not look like it due to the wide-angle lens on the camera, but I had to slow down to avoid a collision.
• A driver with no consideration for other drivers - admittedly, I was over the unmarked centre of the road to avoid the parked cars on my left on an out-of-the-way suburban street, but most drivers anticipate what may happen and drive as close to the left of the road as is practicable.
• A driver approaching an intersection at a speed incommensurate with the road design in an out-of-the-way suburban street, and turning from the middle of that road, rather than to the left of the unmarked centre.
• A driver crossing the centre line of the road because they seem to have no idea of the width of their vehicle?
