Donald Trump
Re: Donald Trump
Trump is almost there. It's a disaster

Re: Donald Trump
We've got some US cousins arriving for a holiday next week. Needless to say they aren't Trump fans, and it was always going to be "awkward" - but sheeeesh! Should we offer them asylum?

Re: Donald Trump
Calling it. Georgia is gone.
Harris needs 65% of the remaining 10% of votes in Pennsylvania. And Trumps lead has been increasing for the last hour or so.
She needs 61% of the remaining 15.7% of votes in Wisconsin.
He's at 275 with those 2 states and he's also leading in Michigan, Arizona and Nevada.
Shit's going to get strange.

Re: Donald Trump
So just to sum up, it looks like we are facing a surge in racism, misogyny, fascism; emboldening of dictators and like-minded right-wing populists in places like Australia; economic upheaval and new problems for Australia's divided loyalties between Beijing (trade) and Washington (security and political).
The other one is the climate. The words of Michael Mann ring out in my mind. He's been a leading voice in the scientific community saying that the energy transition and the COP process can still stave of a devastating climate outcome. But he also said if Trump wins "it's game over for the climate."
I can think of other looming badness, I welcome any comments on what I've left out. Personally, my sentiment is to withdraw for a while, look after my usually excellent mental health, breathe the air, swim in the sea, enjoy the trees and the wildlife. My other reaction is to maintain the rage, keep up the fight, even if it just means being visible.
Last month I ordered a batch of t-shirts so I can raise eyebrows in my comfy little bogan community. I actually had a thought that maybe Trump would lose, and we'd reach peak fascism and I'd be out of date. But anti-fascism never goes out of style.

Re: Donald Trump
I don't think it's close. I think he will win every remaining state except Minnesota and Maine now. I've got him at 312 electoral
college votes.
college votes.
Re: Donald Trump
At this point it's not impossible he'll win the popular vote! They may have both houses of parliament, the executive and obviously they've captured the judiciary. The media is useless. They've got the lot. If Trump wants to go full fascist there's nothing stopping him. However, he didn't in 2016 and he may not now, we'll have to wait and see. But if i was a likely target, i'd be getting the fuck out if i could, or at least formulating plans.

Well, looks like Trump win, this is bad, very bad, it's a miracle now for Harris to win, and I don't believe in miracles.
In the end though I don't think it is Trump we need be worried about, he's gone down so much over the last week months I don't think he will be there long, it's the people he will surround himself with...like Musk, they're the real danger.
