Trump appeared on the Joe Rogan show and news.com put up a nice hot piece of him talking about the assassination attempt and how it made him stronger and how bad the Dem's were for creating a hostile environment and etc...of course not mentioning the three people, one dead, who were implicated in attempts were all Republicans. That was a carefully selected and edited piece, I have watched the interview and it's bizarre how it's been changed around to make him seem more......sane?

For instance the question was actually about his first day in the White House after being elected President last, and he immediately swung into the assassination attempt, which took place, well, nearly 7 years later. They cleverly left out any of the bad stuff, like Trump talking about Lincoln and how Lincoln was so sad after his youngest son died, although Lincoln himself actually died 6 years previous to the death. You can tell he's been told the story of the Lincoln's, probably when he was in the White House, but he's just dredging up bits remembered and then filling in random shite to make himself look caring and empathetic.

Then about the election, evidently Trump, by his own words, has proof that the last election was stolen but he just hasn't presented it yet, maybe later, maybe never, lol. So news.com basically picked the sanest part of the interview, which wasn't very sane at all, then massaged the wording and phrasing to make it seem as if Trump was speaking in a normal manner.

I'll leave this here in case you want to watch it, the entire interview was over 2 hours long, and made him late for one of his rallies;

I've seen the word "sanewashing" used to describe the media's filtering of Trump's madness.

Interesting data coming out of early voting, the Republican early voting is way up in many places, which some could argue is a good sign, however the problem is the early votes aren't from new voters, the data actually shows the voters who are voting early are actually many of the people who voted on election day last election, which is interesting. You see normally the Dems pick up large numbers in early voting, and the lead is usually whittled down during election day, however if the early voters for the Repubs are actually previous election day voters it may well indicate the Repub election day numbers will be well down on previous years.

Large numbers of young voters are voting early for Kamala which may indicate these may well be new voters, well the under 22s would be because they couldn't vote in the last Presidential election.

I had to post this, don't bother watching more than the first 5 minutes because it's not really worth it, just a hate rally as they say in the comments, but the first few minutes feature right wing comedians, and forgive me but aren't comedians supposed to be funny? It was pathetic, I've watched comedians, Jimmy Carr would rip this guy to shreds, I didn't hear even the slightest titter from the audience.

Just keep in mind, if you watched any of that video of the rally above, this is news.com's take;
Former US president Donald Trump declared he wants to win the Democratic heartland of New York as he finished a rally in his home city by singing along to Frank Sinatra.

Supporters packed into Madison Square Garden on Sunday, local time, to hear from a string of celebrity guests and Mr Trump just nine days out from the 2024 vote.
Keep this in mind when he says things like this;
The Republican nominee began speaking about the murders of two “perfect, perfect beautiful girls” who were “cut up” by gang members in Long Island in 2016.
He was President for 4 years from 2017, just after this, and he did nothing about it apart from spending hundreds of millions putting up a few kms of useless wall!

And this is what they mean by celebrities;

That's funny, earlier today I saw a news.com article attacking vice president in waiting Walz for calling Trumps MSG rally a Nazi rally, now it's nowhere to be seen, I wonder why, could this have something to do with it?

I mean they are literally calling themselves Nazi's!

I thought this interview about the growth in American oligarchy was very good.

Just imagined this, the stock market is record breaking, inflation is in the sweet spot, job growth is surging beyond all expectations, Trump claims it's all because the business world and people expect him to be elected in November and if he isn't it will result in a 1929 style depression under the Harris/Walz administration, and then along comes uber billionaire Musk with this warning;

Yes he is predicting a 1929 style economic depression if Trump is elected, not if Kamala stays, but if she is beaten, I mean even he can see how stupid most of Trump's economic policies are, fortunately they won't affect him, he is prepared for you all to suffer if it makes it better for billionaires like him!

Pretty terrified that Trump is going to win, worried about Trump losing too. What is certain for me however, is that i've never been happier to not live in America, and it's a high bar, i've been very happy to not be living in America on a fairly consistent basis for most of my life, but right now that feeling is at an all time high! So there's that i guess....

I've been thinking about the effects here. We have this Aukus insanity going on at the moment, we're chained to mad America militarily, so we'd have to suck up to Trump, while we're chained to tyrannical China economically, so there's potential for all sorts of bad shit, it's like we're two-timing our abusive boyfriend with an even worse abuser.

Globally, the old pro-business small government neo-liberal conservatives will not recover from a Trump victory. Like the Truss/Sunak UK conservatives, the Australian variant, the coalition, will also get more Trumpian. Populism, theocracy, racism, misogyny, autocracy will be the way. The abortion nutters in SA and Qld are the forerunners.

Tech oligarchs will have even more power. Forget about trying to control the bad effects of social media, or resisting the hostile takeover of Australian industries by digital platforms who will enshittify the product and extort us for a huge slab of the profits.

The other big one is the climate. Even the prominent true believer in the energy transition Michael Mann has declared a second Trump term would spell "game over" for the climate.
