UK Watch
Re: UK Watch
Musk and xitter are rightly singled out, but I think they're not the only culprits. A couple of days ago I finished watching a nerdy video about synthesizers, and the algorithm suggested six videos for me to watch at the end. FIve of them were GB News type right-wing toxins. The sixth one was some sort of new age brain wave pseudo-science profiteering bullshit. No music tech suggestions at all. I concluded that the far right had gamed the algorithm with great effectiveness.wolty wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2024 12:09 pm The Media Watch segment was good!

I can feel it
Re: UK Watch
The most generous explanation for that is that people who watch far right videos tend to watch more of them and for longer and as a consequence are a more profitable cohort. Youtube (google) is really the toxic disaster that often escapes the criticism that social media sometimes attracts, imo. The democratization of opinion, huh! Sounded like a good idea at the time....stylofone wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2024 6:17 pm

On topic, i hear there are 30 more gatherings riots planned for tonight (our time). I'm half anticipating the Australian copycats, but we're more focused on the US i suppose.
