Re: The Dash Cam Thread
Ok dash cam time again, strangely the numbers on my dash cam video gormless still seem to be increasing out of all likelihood, strange. But this is from news.com, and really, I can't believe some of the comments included in the article, let's pop them here first so you can see them then look at the video.
Others in defense of the dash cam driver;
https://www.news.com.au/technology/moto ... 4667d37dd7
The above is a stupid comment, the truck wasn't turning, it was using an exit lane specifically provided to make exiting the 4 lane roadway easy, it's not a corner, it's an exit lane, the truck is signalling to change lanes to the exit lane, not turn a corner, the corner is actually further down the exit lane.“[The dashcam driver] is probably at fault … as the truck does have the red and yellow ‘do not overtake turning vehicle’ signs displayed clearly at the rear. These are used for multiple reasons but unfortunately most people ignore them,” one person wrote.
Same, the truck had clearly entered the exit lane making it safe for the car to move up, but the truck swerved out as part of it's maneuver to avoid the car, which had probably started moving forward and moved into the path of the truck, the truck probably assumed it would stop when it saw him so he was moving out to try and go around. The dash cam driver then had to swerve into the far lane to avoid the truck which had been forced out by the car. It's all very well to say should have/could have here, but the dash cam car broke no laws, but the other car moved out into the road when it didn't have clear view of the road behind or beside the truck and would have had no idea there was even a car there.“[The dashcam driver] started overtaking the truck before the truck was completely out of the lane. Should have been patient and stayed behind the truck, or changed lanes,” said another.
Again, the truck signaled to "change lanes" not turn, you can clearly see the actual turn is probably another 100mtrs down the road.Another person wrote: “Truck indicates to turn left. Do not overtake a turning vehicle sign is on the truck. Compounding this a blue vehicle turning across the flow of traffic lanes unsighted. The trucks driving was fine … the other two vehicles need to rethink their driving habits.
Others in defense of the dash cam driver;
Now here is the video you can judge for yourself. My feeling is the dash cam driver "should" have signaled to change to the outside lane before passing the truck purely for defensive driving reasons, but was not required to, but the accident would still have happened even if he did that, so it was other car fully at fault.However, many came to the defence of the dashcam owner, suggesting it was the driver in the blue vehicle that shouldn't have turned out into oncoming traffic.
“All the people saying dashcam car should have slowed down and not overtake turning truck … the truck had a turning lane and his original lane, truck did not need the third lane the dashcam car moved into, car pulling out was in the wrong.”
“The car driver (that got T-boned) should have their license revoked first life,” another suggested.
“Why would you pull out in front off a truck and you can’t see what's in other lane. Must have a death wish,” another added.
